The MDUK Oxford Neuromuscular Centre (directed by Professor Matthew Wood) was founded in 2019 by the Muscular Dystrophy UK and the University of Oxford  to focus on the urgent mission of accelerating the discovery, development and deployment of new medicines to combat devastating neuromuscular diseases. The Centre builds on the already excellent research, training and patient care in Oxford to drive the development of novel experimental therapies more rapidly and increase national clinical trial capacity in neuromuscular diseases.
